NEW ULTRALIGHT ARRIVES ON AMERICAN MARKET For the past four years, the TL 22 DUO has been in production and available only to the European market until now. The Czech made trike just made it's American debut at "OSHKOSH" '97. The seven year old company was formed by a group of Czechs which had been working for the Czechoslovakian government developing and manufacturing aircraft technologies. TL has developed five aircraft since they started their business shortly after the revolution, one of which is the DUO. |
The DUO trike is the result of years of experience and a rich culture which takes pride in quality and superb craftsmanship. With an eye catching fiberglass shell which fully covers the proven duraluminum frame, one can fly and look good at the same time. The DUO sits two passengers comfortably, has a ten gallon tank and has ample room for baggage, camping equipment etc. As far as navigation equipment is concerned, the DUO can be equipped with all the flight instruments one can ask for.
The trike is powered by a liquid cooled ROTAX 462 which makes 52 hp, as well as other sizes of ROTAX engines. The 462 is rather uncommon in America but is a relatively quiet and reliable engine which consumes about 2 to 3 gallons per hour. The DUO has a maximum speed of 75 mph and a cruising speed of 45 mph.
Two wings are offered on this ultralight,. The ESO 14 and the sportier ESO 13. They are made by a company also in the Czech Republic. The wings are 13 and 14 square meters and are made of Trilam and Dacron. Over 230 of these have been produced and used on various aircraft. With these wings, the glide ratio is approximately 9:1 at 45 mph.
